Ashmore Lions Club

The Lions Club of Ashmore is a non-profit, community service group of non-paid volunteers and is a registered member of Lions Clubs International, the world’s largest community service organisation.

Over the years our club members have raised money by participating in many community projects such as sausage sizzles, fairy floss projects, Lions Christmas Cake and Pudding sales, Little Theatre ticket sales, Carols by Candlelight, various raffle projects throughout the year (including Christmas & Easter Raffles & Melbourne Cup Sweeps), delivery of local telephone directories, car parking at notable suburban functions, doorknock appeals for Cancer Fund and Walk for Life for Queensland Cancer Council. We have also received ongoing donations from our Gold Coast City Council, Jupiter’s Casino Community Trust, local business enterprises and from many private citizens as well.

Since our inception in 1979 we have donated our hard-earned funds to hundreds of worthy recipients in our own area, statewide, nationally and also internationally through the LCIF (Lions Clubs International Foundation) facility. Included have been Lions Haven for the Aged, Queensland Cancer Council, Hopewell Hospice, various schools & kindergartens, Police Citizens & Youth Clubs, women’s refuges, facilities for the homeless and incapacitated, plus myriads of appeals for droughts, bushfires, cyclones, hurricanes, floods & earthquakes etc. In fact, any place where someone genuinely needs a helping hand you will find our members willing to assist unbegrudgingly.

So, if you or your group, company or business would like to contribute to our cause you may forward your donations to us by cheque, money order or postal note to:

The Secretary, Lions Club of Ashmore Inc, PO Box 82, Ashmore City QLD 4214, AUSTRALIA.

All contributions will be gratefully accepted and we will immediately respond with a receipt for your donation posted to a nominated address. If you prefer, you may even nominate your chosen charity. Just include all of the details. A contact phone number and/or email address may be handy as well.

The major benefit of donating money to a Lions Club (anywhere in the world) is that unlike most other charitable organisations, 100% of the funds will make it to its final destination, since there are NO OVERHEAD COSTS involved in the process at all. Lions Clubs are famous for GETTING THE JOB DONE QUICKLY with a minimum of fuss because our UNPAID MEMBERS actually go out and DO THE JOB THEMSELVES.  For example, in the aftermath of the Queensland state-wide floods in 2011, the entire $750,000 donated by Lions was distributed within one month. The Queensland government still hadn’t dispersed the bulk of their donations more than a year after the event.
